
Help for Children in Gypsy slums: Changing the future of the Europe’s poorest
The children, especially the girls in Gypsy (Roma) slums among the most vulnerable in Europe. Mission Possible has been working for Gypsy children in Bulgaria since 1998.
- The goal: Breaking the vicous spiral of misery, lack of education and jobs, teenage motherhood
- Soup kitchens; distribution of food supplies and aid.
- Carried out in the facilities of local Gypsy churches in the slums; ladies from the churches serve voluntarily in the kitchens
- Additional tuition for school age children; professional courses for the youth
- 300 children a year are included in the program
- Significant results: changed lives, spiritual revival in Gypsy communities
- Coming up: A large shelter for abused women and girls
